Terms of Business
Last updated: 5 August 2026
These terms apply to every matter Property Law Online carries out. Please read them together with the written fee confirmation you receive when you instruct us.
Our service
Property Law Online provides property legal services in England and Wales. Every matter is carried out on a fixed fee that is agreed and confirmed in writing before any work begins. The written confirmation you receive when you instruct us, together with these terms, forms the agreement between us.
Fees and payment
Your fixed fee covers the work described in your written confirmation. Disbursements (third-party costs such as Land Registry fees, search fees and identity-verification checks) are itemised separately and charged at cost. We tell you in writing how and when payment is due. If your matter changes in scope after we start, we will tell you before any additional fee arises and agree it in writing first.
Your obligations
You agree to provide accurate and complete information, to respond to our requests promptly, to complete identity verification as required by anti-money-laundering law, and to tell us about anything that may affect your matter. Delays in providing information or documents may delay your matter.
Cancellation
You may cancel within 14 days of instructing us. If you asked us to start work during that period, we may charge a reasonable amount for work already done and disbursements already incurred; anything else is refunded. After the cancellation period, you may end your instruction at any time and pay only for work completed to that point.
Communication
We communicate by email to the address you give us and by telephone. It is your responsibility to keep that email address current and to check it for messages, documents and signature requests.
Liability
We will carry professional indemnity insurance as the CLC requires, covering the legal work we perform. Our total liability for any matter is limited to the level of that cover, details of which are available on request. Nothing in these terms limits or excludes liability that cannot be limited or excluded by law, including for fraud or for death or personal injury caused by negligence.
Complaints
If you are unhappy with our service, our complaints procedure explains how to raise it and how we will respond. It is available on this website and a copy will be provided on request.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute arising from them.
